Calling All Superheroes for National Comic Book Day

Are you wondering why there is an “unofficial” National Comic Book Day today on 9/25/15?  At one time, a long, long time ago, before there were smartphones or smart computers, you could pop into a convenience store and find the latest comic book on the shelves.  Reading a comic book was a fun way to pass a couple of hours (if you were a really slow reader :)) and it didn’t cost you more than a couple of quarters.  As time has moved on, comic books lost their popularity with the masses, but there are still some big fans.  Comic book conventions and stores that specialize in selling comics serve the passionate few.

Comic books are popular with collectors too.  A first edition comic book that is in pristine condition can fetch big bucks.  So, while you’re letting it sink in that you could have made thousands had you kept all your comics, you’ll find that the comic book superheroes are still very popular.  They are so well liked, in fact, that several successful movies have been made that include characters such as Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, the Fantastic Four and of course, Spiderman.  It would also be darn near impossible if you didn’t see a trick or treater this Halloween wearing some kind of super hero costume.  In fact, girls like to get in on the super hero action too.  There’s Black Widow, Batgirl, and Catwoman who are all popular superheroines.

If National Comic Book Day today has jogged your memory of the fun you used to have while reading comics (or if you have never read comics, but you’re interested now), then don’t put it off and buy yourself a comic book.  In fact, if grandpa is still an avid fan of comics, pick up this superhero t-shirt, but act quickly, as they won’t last long.

Regardless of how you decide to spend today, we hope we’ve been able to remind you of some pleasant memories and given you a smile to start off your weekend!
